Aarong launches month-long ‘Winter Wonderland 2025’ festival in Dhaka

Event to spotlight Bangladeshi artisans, traditional crafts, food and live music throughout December

Aarong has announced a month-long festival in Dhaka aimed at celebrating Bangladeshi crafts and the artisans behind them. The event, called “Winter Wonderland 2025: A Celebration of Crafts,” will run throughout December at the organisation’s Tejgaon outlet.

The space will be transformed into a craft-focused carnival, featuring jamdani weaving, nakshi kantha, hand embroidery, jewellery, rickshaw art and other traditional forms. Aarong says the festival highlights the skills and stories of rural artisans who have been central to the brand for nearly five decades. On festival days, the outlet will remain open until 11pm.

Each week will feature different themes, including a Pitha Uthshob, Thanda Beats, wedding-inspired festivities and concerts by popular Bangladeshi artists. A special finale concert is planned for the closing week.

The event has been designed as a family-friendly experience, with food carts offering local favourites such as pithas, fuchka, chotpoti and kebabs. A Kids’ Zone, carnival games at Terracotta Tales and do-it-yourself craft activities will be available alongside live music performances.

Visitors will also be able to explore a newly refreshed aarong.com through a dedicated digital experience zone. Several BRAC social enterprises - including Aarong Origins, Aarong Dairy, BRAC Healthcare and Otithi - will showcase their products and services during the festival.

Aarong says the initiative reflects its continued focus on sustainability and social impact, while strengthening links between customers and the communities who create Bangladesh’s handmade crafts.
